In 1984, John Josef, a Los Angeles session drummer, decided that he needed to overcome the problem of having his headphones loud enough without leaking sound into the sensitive studio microphones. So much time and money was being wasted through constant trips to and from the control room to audition his takes, and re-takes.

As a result of his hard work and dedication, the Extreme Isolation EX29 Headphones were developed, passively reducing external noise by an incredible 29dB. Instantly, he was able to listen to a studio mix or a backing track at a comfortable volume, whilst hearing exactly what he was playing. Because of their excellent noise rejection, the EX29 Headphones allow the user to monitor sound at lower levels, thus protecting their hearing, and also considerably reducing fatigue in long sessions.

Of course, there are many other applications that the EX29 Headphones are perfect for; Home Studio musicians can record live instruments whilst sat next to their mixer, Sound Engineers can monitor the mix without hearing the main loudspeakers, and foldable earpieces mean that DJ’s can hear the monitor and live mix whilst cueing up tracks.

Extreme Isolation EX29 Headphones are a practical and cost effective solution to any situation in which the user wants to be isolated from external noise. http://www.omnisonic.co.uk/

I have very sensitive hearing and I am constantly being woken up during the night by music, people, cars passing, etc. I need something to block out the noises but be comfortable to sleep on whether on my back, sides or tummy. The EX29 headphones looks made of hard material. Please advise. Thanks.

Our headphones will reduce the ambient noise by 29db. If you aren’t playing any music through them, you will still be able to hear background noise but at a much reduced level.

Our headphones provide 29dB of noise reduction which is the highest level possible for headphones. Active noise canceling headphones like the Bose headphones reduce sound by only about 17-21dB. To totally block out noise would require 60dB of noise reduction which is only achieved in expensive recording studios. So you will still be able to hear some external noise when wearing our headphones if you aren’t playing any sound through them.

In order to block out sound almost completely with our headphones, listen to some soft music or a white noise CD such as ocean waves.
This will block almost all external noises.

You can listen to our sound clips for an example of how much noise is reduced. http://www.quietheadphones.com/#sound

Several of our customers have written back saying that they have been using our headphones while sleeping or meditating. The headphones can be worn for long periods of time without ear or head fatigue. The earcups, however, are too large for sleeping on your side. You would have to lie on your back if you intend to lie down while wearing the headphones.

Feel free to ask any other questions!

    Thank you!
